Deep in the Weeds at Sailors Grave feat. C.W. Stoneking
Please note: This event is now sold out
C.W. Stoneking and His Primitive Horn Orchestra will headline Sailors Grave’s infamous ‘Deep in the Weeds Festival’ on Saturday 10 June (the opening weekend of the 2023 EGWF) thanks to support from the Small Regional Presenters Program.
C.W. Stoneking has been described as an artist for whom ‘unexpected’ is probably the default setting and invokes the spirit of the 1920’s deep south blues in his original hokum style. So, a brewery with a similar reputation that crafts weird and wonderful beers in the Deep Sou ‘East seems to be a match made in heaven.
The farmhouse brewery located on the banks of the Snowy River operates from a 130 year old butter factory in the township of Orbost in East Gippsland. The beers are unique with subtle layers of complexity, crafted in an ever-changing selection of styles and diverse array of ingredients – some may say, much like C.W. Stoneking’s music.
The opening weekend of the East Gippsland Winter Festival coincides with the King’s Birthday long weekend and we encourage music and beer lovers to stay a few days and check out some other events on the program, explore the natural beauty of the Orbost / Marlo area, hopefully support some small businesses along the way.
