ON FOOT. IN WINTER
ON FOOT – will curate four Sundays of morning walks to the Entrance. Pick up your map at Iceworks Studio then head across the Lakes Entrance Footbridge. Enjoy our ON FOOT morning walk, made by locals, embedded with local artists and nature lovers. Guided or DIY.
Every Sunday of the EGWF we’ll be encouraging locals and visitors to walk the Lakes Entrance Walk starting 10am – midday (but you can take as long as you need to finish it). The entire walk is 6km return. It’s sandy, a little bumpy, with some steps along the way. So you should decide how far you’d like to walk and come prepared with snacks, hats, drinking water. The famous ‘Lakes Entrance’ and its new boardwalk are worth it but you need reasonable fitness to do the whole walk.
A 10am guided walk by Skipper Pete (Lakes Explorer) will start on the southern side of the footbridge. Pete will provide loads of nature-based and historical info – as an accredited eco tourism operator who helps all the local wildlife groups with their citizen science work. This guided tour will require booking, with a $5 fee to go towards a local nature based charity.
Or, at 10.30am you can choose to walk with Jo ( Sol Synergy) for a nature based therapy walk that combines mindfulness techniques and the therapeutic power of being in the natural environment. see: https://egwinterfest.com.au/event/calm-and-connected-nature-therapy-walk/ for full details and to make your booking.
And then – we’ll have a bunch of creative experiences dotted along the route – to admire, or to interact with. And they’ll be different every week. Just come ready to relax and enjoy and see a different side of Lakes Entrance.
