Perched high above the water on the iconic Nicholson River Trestle Bridge, this unforgettable long lunch marks the spectacular opening of the 2026 East Gippsland Winter Festival. A special collaboration between Albert & Co Catering, Nicholson General Store, and The Long Paddock.

On Friday 19 June, 150 lucky guests will take their seats along the historic bridge for a truly unique dining experience. Enjoy a beautifully curated three-course menu celebrating the very best of the region’s local produce, all set against sweeping views up and down the Nicholson River.

The afternoon begins with a welcome drink and starters on arrival, before guests settle in for a leisurely long lunch accompanied by live music. Pop-up bars will be serving a selection of local wines, craft beers, and cocktails available for purchase—perfect for toasting the start of the festival in style.

With its breath taking setting, exceptional food, and relaxed atmosphere, the Nicholson River Trestle Bridge Long Lunch is set to be one of the most sought-after events of the season. Sign up to the East Gippsland Winter Festival email newsletter to be among the first to hear when tickets go on sale.

Park at the Nicholson Boat Ramp and meander up the walking trail beside the Nicholson River. Transfers to the bridge are available on request for anyone who requires assistance. Rug up but also bring a sun hat and sunglasses!

Thanks to the East Gippsland Rail Trail Committee of Management for allowing this event to take place in such a spectacular setting, on part of the EG Rail Trail. A portion of ticket sales will got to the Rail Trail CoM to support ongoing trail maintenance.

PLEASE NOTE: This event may be postponed or cancelled at late notice due to adverse weather. In the event of a postponement, a full refund (minus the Humanitix booking fee) will be available for anyone who cannot make the new date.
